
Aarika waited until the house fell into silence.
One by one, the lights went off. Doors closed. Even the faint sounds of movement in the corridors disappeared. Only then did she step out of her room.
Barefoot, careful, she moved down the staircase like a shadow. The marble was cold under her feet, but she didn't stop. Her grip tightened around the thick file in her hands-pages stuffed, edges slightly torn, like it had been handled too many times in a hurry.
Downstairs, near the back entrance, a figure was already waiting.
